When to speak to a lawyer
Most legal problems for private individuals do not start in a courtroom. They start with a letter from the bank, an inheritance nobody knows how to share out, an insurance policy that is hard to understand or a call from the insurer after an accident. That is when a consultation is most useful: before you sign, before you accept an offer and before a deadline passes.
Many claims have legal time limits. If you let them pass, you can lose the right even if you are completely in the right. So I recommend that you ask before the problem grows.
How I work with private clients
I am Diego Montosa Ugarte, a Spanish lawyer (abogado), member no. 8,108 of the Málaga Bar Association (ICA Málaga). My specialism is civil procedure and the law of obligations and contracts, which is where most matters in this area are resolved. When a case needs it, I work with court representatives (procuradores), engineers and economists.
- First I review your documents and explain your options in plain language.
- I tell you in advance which steps there will be and what costs you will have.
- I try to resolve the problem through negotiation or a written claim. I only suggest going to court when it makes sense.
I work with private clients across the Axarquía: Nerja, Torrox, Vélez-Málaga, Torre del Mar, Frigiliana, Algarrobo, Rincón de la Victoria and the surrounding area. Many of my clients are foreign residents, so I also work in English.
